I started a second job here with a company called GoodLiving Tech. it is a small company that does house to house computer repair. I had three calls to do yesterday that had me running all around town and I have some more work with him tomorrow. They are paying me $20/hr on a part time/on-call basis. The owner of the company thinks I am great there.

Basically the company has been around for a few years – there was him and 3 other part time technicians. He did a large marketing push this last week, and all but hired me on the spot. I seemed to prove myself to him so well that the only reason he is hiring another tech is to cover for me when I head out to Edmonton in January.

Overall, I think that I have a really good shot with this company. Things seem to be going really well.

Finished the day with Avatar screening in 3-D.

Avatar is by far one of the most breathtaking films I have seen in ages. Avatar is a visually stunning piece of film, masterfully CGIed, never hitting the uncanny valley. The film is a wonderful mix of science fiction and fantasy; the juxtaposition of a strong military presence -  mecha included, and the race of mystic/hunters of the Na’Vi was beautifully done.

Cameron has created these wonderful creatures and plant life to fill the world. You could feel the life and soul of the forests and creatures. The battles were well choreographed, and engrossing. I left the theater in awe by the beauty of the film and story.

I highly recommend seeing this film.

So busy weekend.

In the midst of packing and cleaning, I had to take Museless to the ferry so he can start his trek to Australia. It was hard saying good bye; I will miss him for sure. At least we got a good gaming session and coffee session in before he left.

I am working on almost no sleep. Between cleaning, packing and final hang out sessions sleep has fallen by the wayside. Tomorrow afternoon though we get our new place.

This is a big thing for me, I have never lived in a place with out roommates, and I couldn’t be happier about finally getting a place with Kate. We are both really excited.

Kate started her new job today. Should be good for her. It definitely is more her style.

Everything is setup for the move now. We have utilities set up, a move in date ready and have access to a truck. Now it is just a matter of making the insane amount of trips from each place as we were basically given the furniture in the place we are currently in.

We have the majority of our stuff packed at this point. Maybe a couple of hours left of work. And then we get to clean…

Luckily it is not too bad – there are no carpets to steam clean so really it is just mopping and wiping the walls.  Granted we don’t have a time when all of us will be available to clean, so it will be piecemeal.

Again it has been a busy while, and our update schedule has slowed to — well a bit of a standstill. In reality we have been quite busy. Museless is about to head off to Australia, so we have been busy trying to find a new place to live. We got ourselves a nice 2 bedroom, close to both of our work.

Of course finding the place was a bit of an adventure.  the second place we looked at had everything we wanted; utilities were included and the place had a walk-in closet and plenty of kitchen space. So we rushed to get a damage deposit in 2 hours is what it took for us to do so.  Only to find out someone beat us to the apartment by all of an hour. We were crushed.

Luckily, the person at the rental office was fantastic. She agreed to hold the other apartments for a day. Long enough for us to have a look at them and say if we wanted it. We now have this beautiful apartment in a good location, though the kitchen really sucks. We get to move in on the 29th.

We still have some of the details to work out – such as getting services set up, but overall it is going well.

Yes, it has been a while since we updated last. Life has been keeping us busy.

We were unable to get out to Edmonton this time around; car troubles prevented us from doing so. We did however have a great time in Victoria. There were many wanders and photos taken.

Thanks giving is coming up this weekend, seems like it will be another busy weekend. I get to see my nephew again, which I am really looking forward to.

Been a pretty good weekend. We had Kate’s sister and friend come into town on Sunday. I picked them up from the ferry, and then the adventure began. The plan was to go to the Merridale Cidery. Apparently it was an hour outside of Victoria. So I programmed the address into my GPS and was surprised to see it was only 20km from the ferries. Excellent! we will get there nice and early. Except the GPS wanted us to drive through the ocean. No as much as I would like to have an amphibious car, I don’t have the means to drive through the ocean. Okay fair enough. My GPS could just be screwy. Sometimes that happens with software. So Sharon pulls out her GPS. And the same thing happened again.

Well this is no good. We will just have to head back into town and go from there. We managed to make it back to Victoria, despite the two GPS systems yelling different directions at us in an attempt to prove superiority over the other (we listened to neither at this point). At this point they both start agreeing again, and we start out to the cidery once again. Just to have them send us into off-road/private road routes. Most likely at this point the just wanted to watch the humans dance to their tune. Again we make it back to the highway and drive a bit further, and the system sends us on this long circuitous route. But finally we are there.

So we went in, had our tasting, bought some cider and decided it was time for lunch. It was raining so we sat in the car, and started listening to some music. And apparently we listened to it for a little too long; we killed the battery.

So off to find jumper cables I go. Of course no one has any, and I finally cave and call a tow truck. Right after, Rhian asks some people who just pulled up if they had any jumper cables. Nope. of course not. What the did have however, was muscle power. I drive a standard, and there is this neat trick called a push start. So we push my car down a hill, and thank the gods, it worked.

Of course we still hadn’t learned with the GPS, and we try to follow it back home. Only for it to send us to to the same closed roads. At this point we figure they might as well be speaking Norwegian as the directions from the device were utterly useless. So we sett it to Norwegian, We figured it was actually more helpful this way, as at least we now know how to say “Turn Left”

After near 3 month, I finally get a weekend off. Should be a fairly busy one too, as Kate’s sister will be in town for Sunday. We will be heading to a cidery, and hopefully will get to spends some time at a beach for a picnic.

We go on vacation in a couple more weeks here, of to Edmonton. Certainly not the most exciting trip, but it is still some travel. It will be nice to gather some more of our stuff. I think we both need a break from work.

Trying to quit is hitting me harder than I thought it would. I know I am not good conversation. I know I am irritable. I don’t know how to push through either. And this is only day one.

To add to it I feel constantly hungry and bored.

I am not sure how much I want to quit. I am not sure if this is worth the aggravation. I guess that is the nature of addiction though.
